A friend, who was not a Christian Scientist, loaned me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and from the first I was convinced that it contained the truth and that the author must have been inspired. After a through perusal of this wonderful book my whole thought toward God and man changed, and I learned to love people with whom I came in daily contact in a way that before I never thought possible. When I made up my mind that Christian Science is the religion of Jesus. I began to its teaching to every physical need, and for over three years I have not used a material remedy of any kind, and it has never failed to heal. All of my life. from the time I was two years old, I had a great deal of trouble with my throat, and as I grew older I suffered intensely from it. Previous to the time that I became interested in Christian Science, an attack lasted for over two months, with but very short periods of relief. every relapse a new remedy would be tried, but without my receiving any permanent relief, and at the end of the time I went to my home in the West a physical and nervous wreck, and could not return to my work until I had taken a fourmonths vacation.

Shortly after coming into Christian Science I had occasion to test the healing power of this truth in a case of the same kind with the following results: I put myself under a practitioner's care on Monday, and on Friday I was entirely free from pain and returned to my work feeling as free as if nothing had been the matter; nor was there any relapse, as had always been the case before. Not only did the quick and permanent healing impress me, but the difference in my mental condition, was even more marked. Beofre, when under a physician's care, I had always been depressed and irritable, but under Christian Science treatment I was cheerful, and this made it more comfortable for those around me. The difference in the cost was also noticeable. When under Science treatment I lost fewer days from my work than I did weeks in the time previous, and the doctor's bill, prescriptions, etc., amounted to a great deal more than the practitioner's fee. Taken altogether, I realized that I had found a practical religion, — one that could be applied every day and to every thing. Aside from this special instance, I have had many other proofs of healing, in the case of extreme nervousness and biliousness, also the overcoming of temper and the constant fear that my eyesight would become impaired and I would thus be incapacitated for my work.

For all the freedom, the health, the happiness, and the regeneration that have come to me through Christian Science, I am more grateful than mere words can express, grateful to God for giving us our brave Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has pointed out the clearly, and has set us such a beautiful example of what a Christian Scientist should be and do. —Anna L.
