Through a healing from the effects of a fall I became...

Through a healing from the effects of a fall I became interested in Christian Science, and while in Salt Lake City, a year ago, I attended service in the Christian Science church. A year and a half previous to this I had had a major operation performed, and before the internal wound was healed, thoughtlessly tried to lift a heavy weight, and thus was supposed to have to have torn open the part where the stiches had taken. On the Sunday referred to I was returning home from a winter in California, but was even worse than when I left, — cognizant of my inability to cope with home duties upon my arrival, and with visions of another "necessary operation." I felt greately depressed, and it was with difficulty that I walked from the hotel to the church. I entered the edifice with a painfully discordant body, but there all was harmony, and by the close of the service, through the grace of divine Love, my thought had climbed the heights, and I seemed to grasp the understanding of Life and Love which, as Mrs. Eddy states, is a foretaste of eternity. During this blessed time of spiritual uplifiting I left the church, with tears of joy and gratitude filling my eyes, and walked with an elastic step to the hotel, a different person, — practically healed. Since then I have retained health, which I had not known for twenty years, and my gratitude is boundless.

I am also thankful that through Mrs. Eddy's teachings I have learned how to call upon God, that I may claim the promise to those that dwell "in the secret place," "He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him."
