THE LECTURES
Judge William G. Ewing lectured on Christian Science Nov. 21. He was introduced by Mr. Moseley, a member of the local church, who said in part,—
We have invited you to hear this lecture on Christian Science to-night, knowing that you will find therein much that is good and true and helpful, and feeling that you will perhaps understand why Christian Scientists, as a whole, are the happiest people in the world,—whom no dangers can terrify and no obstacles discourage; why they are calm and undisturbed in the face of the bitterest (and most undeserved) calumny and opposition; why they do not speak, either in public or in private, a harsh or condemnatory word of, nor deride or speak with disrespect of, any other religion or creed or church,—knowing no malice, but only compassion and pity for those who thus assail them, and why the English writer, Mr. Frederick Dixon, said recently in the Onlooker, London, "It is indubitable that the spread of Christian Science has been in the exact ratio to its healing work, and it is because Christian Science does heal in this way that it is beyond the power of man to stay its course."—Correspondence.
