[Written for the Sentinel.]

I'VE HEARD THE MESSAGE THOU HAST SENT

Thy will, O God, be done with me,
For I am Thine!
Above earth's clouds—from error free—
My faith triumphant turns to Thee,
O Father, Saviour mine!

The voice of sense is impotent
Since fear has fled; I've heard the message Thou hast sent,
I taste Christ's holy sacrament
Of living, blessed bread.
I've heard Thy voice—Thy call intense—
My Lord and King!
And from earth's mortal dream of sense
I wake—what glorious recompense
Thy Truth doth to me bring!

Love conquers all—Truth lights the way
To Thee and heaven!
The night clouds lift—now lives the day!
The feast is mine—to all I pray
Thy Light, O God, be given.
