AMONG THE CHURCHES

Some time ago Second Church of Christ, Scientist, of this city, in response to an invitation for an expression of opinion as to the steps necessary to secure uniformity in the work and unity of action among the students of Christian Science in this city, announced itself in favor of one church for Meadville, and to this end recommended reorganization on a well considered basis. In conformity with this declared view, at the semiannual business meeting of the church, held last Friday evening, it was unanimously decided to take the initial step in this movement and dissolve. This announcement was made Sunday at the semiannual communion.—The Evening Republican.

The Christian Scientists of this city have decided to build a great temple in which they will worship. A committee which has the matter in hand has, it is understood, secured a splendid site in the northwest section of the city, and on this site the temple will be erected. The plans are said to be all prepared, and the building and lot will probably cost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars, which must all be paid before the church can be dedicated. It is said that this temple will be built after the model of the great building in Boston, which is one of the most costly religious structures on this continent. The present congregation of Christian Scientists exceeds eight hundred members.
