I rejoice in knowing that Christian Science is the Comforter...

I rejoice in knowing that Christian Science is the Comforter promised by our Master, even the "Spirit of truth," who will guide "into all truth." This blessed truth came to me in an hour of great need. I thought I had not long to live, and in consequence was very much distressed and melancholy. Thinking I would soon be parted from my loved ones, I had often prayed God to spare my life until my children were grown. I was afflicted with heart trouble and extreme nervousness, the doctors giving only temporary relief. When Christian Science was recommended to me I had lost faith in materia medica, and was at the point where, as it has been said, man's extremity is God's opportunity. The application of Christian Science healed me quickly, both mentally and physically. Our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was read,—yes, studied with great joy,—and I thank God for the light it revealed to me. It was indeed that "true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." The chapter "Atonement and Eucharist" made many points clear which I had never before understood, and many were the tears of joy and deep was my gratitude to God for its author. I saw the "new heaven and the new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness." And I seemed to hear a voice out of heaven, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.... and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." The study of Christian Science teaches us to love the Bible, also to love God with all our strength and with all our might, for it reveals man's relation to God and the universe.

I am very grateful for the physical benefits received, and yet more so for the peace of mind which has come to me through the application of this wonderful truth, as taught in Christian Science. During eight years' experience I have seen many demonstrations of its power, in my own family and with others. My sincere desire is to let my light so shine before men that they may see my good works, and thereby glorify our Father which is in heaven.
