My interest in Christian Science began several years...

My interest in Christian Science began several years ago, through the healing of a cousin who had been an invalid for a great while. When I saw her in 1887 she was well and strong physically and mentally. I was anxious to know more of what had healed her, and she advised me to get "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I did so and began to read, but did not seem to understand it for a long time. However, I began to practise what I did understand, and because I could prove it in part I believed it all. I have not the language to express my gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the benefits I have received from Christian Science. I was subject to severe headaches, frequent attacks of throat trouble, when I could only speak in a whisper, and many other ills which the doctors said were the results of a severe case of fever in childhood. They said I would never be well, but those ailments are now things of the past, and I realize what Jesus meant when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This means freedom from sickness, worry, and unhappiness here and now. I have not taken any medicine for twenty years, but until three years ago I occasionally wrote to a practitioner for treatment. Since 1904 I have been able, with my understanding, to help myself and others, and it would be ungrateful in me to delay giving this testimony which I hope may help others as much as some of the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal have helped me. I have learned to love the study of the Bible and our Lesson-Sermons, in my search for truth, and have derived much benefit from them.
