Desiring to do all that I can to help suffering humanity...
Desiring to do all that I can to help suffering humanity, I send this testimony, told as simply as possible. When I first heard of Christian Science, about eleven years ago, I was preparing to have an operation performed. I had been under the care of physicians for over three years, and had been confined to my bed for three months with what the doctors pronounced ovarian trouble. I was unable to walk any distance, or to do anything that required the slightest exertion, and was extremely nervous. Shortly after hearing of Christian Science I placed myself under treatment, and although the healing was slow, it was sure, for in about two years and a half I could say that I was healed. During that time I was able to earn my livelihood, while under medical treatment I was compelled to give up business for over a year.
I would like to say that a very severe catarrhal trouble, for which I had had medical treatment from childhood, was instantaneously healed. One of the first questions that the doctor asked me, when talking with me after I was healed, was about the catarrhal trouble, and when I told him that I was completely healed he looked at me for a moment, and then said, "Well, I cannot say that there was nothing the matter with you, and I am glad that you are well again." I had several kind talks with this physician, and am sure that if he were on earth to-day he would be willing to testify regarding my case, for he never denied the healing to my mother or me.
During my illness I was attended by three physicians, all practising in Brooklyn, New York, and my healing in Christian Science also occurred in that city. I have enjoyed the best of health since then.
