It is difficult for one who does not understand Christian Science...
It is difficult for one who does not understand Christian Science to believe that the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, will bring that apprehension of divine Truth which heals both sin and sickness. Not only is this statement truthfully made many times in our Wednesday evening meetings, but it is often seen in the testimonies published in the Sentinel and Journal, to which I wish to add mine.
When I was a boy I had my nose broken. It was not only broken at the bridge, but the large bone or cartilage was curved in such a manner as to entirely close one of the nostrils. Later a very painful operation was attempted, but it did not bring the desired result. This was about the year 1885. Sixteen years later, in 1901, I took up the study of Christian Science, and since then I have studied it faithfully. One day within the past year I was much surprised to find that I was breathing through both nostrils, and an examination revealed the fact that while my nose was not perfectly straight, it had straightened sufficiently to give me the free use of both nostrils. This healing has been done in no other way than through Christian Science, by the almost constant declaration of the allness of God, good, and the nothingness of error, as we are taught on almost every page of Mrs. Eddy's writings. By this study I am a better man every way,—better morally, better physically, better mentally, and far better spiritually. I am glad to give Mrs. Eddy all honor, for I am very grateful to her and grateful to God for giving me this truth through her.
