Having experienced the healing effects of Christian Science, I desire to express my deep sense of gratitude. When this Science was first brought under my notice I was suffering from sight failure. I was not able to read printed matter of any description, no matter how large the print, without experiencing the most violent pain. Many different kinds of glasses had been tried without success, and the oculist at last said I must give up all attempts to read, and live in hope that as my general health improved the sight would return; but I was then in poor health and had little hope of a speedy recovery. It was at this time a friend lent me some Sentinels and told me something of this, to me, new and beautiful truth. I bought a copy of Science and Health, but found that I could not read it so sought out a practitioner. At the end of one week's treatment I could read without pain. I had no more treatments, but continued reading, and at the end of the second week I put aside the glasses which the oculist had ordered and have been able to read any kind of print ever since. This seemed, and still seems, a very beautiful demonstration of the power of Truth—but the gradual transformation that results from daily study and striving to understand and live the truth; the uncovering of error where least suspected; the revealing of what it is that ails us and how it can be utterly destroyed,—the growing up into the knowledge of God's ever-presence,—is to me wonderful beyond words. Since my first healing there has been a steady growth in understanding, and, as a consequence, in health and strength.

I have had many things to be thankful for during the short time I have been a student of Christian Science, but for nothing am I more grateful than for the new light which has been thrown on the Bible. Before it was to me an obscure, even irritating, book—now I go to it for instruction and peace. For these blessings I thank God, divine Truth, and Mrs. Eddy, Truth's Messenger.
