Regarding Evil
Boston Times
There is a peculiar mental philosophy afloat which declares that evil is a species of good, a lower form of good. It states that good is all and in this all includes evil as well as good; but this is not the teaching of Christian Science. This Science draws the line emphatically between right and wrong and demands an absolute abandonment of evil.
Whether evil be real or unreal, it is of necessity something to him who indulges in it. He who continues in sin does not believe the teaching of Christian Science that there is nothing in it, but believes that there is something in it.
Christian Science proposes to give strength to the sinner in his effort to overcome evil, by revealing to him the omnipotence of God and the consequent impotency of evil. In Science and Health, p. 447, Mrs. Eddy declares, "To put down the claim of sin you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin, and prove its unreality." Also on page 339, she states, "The destruction of sin is the divine method of pardon."
