I wish to add my testimony to that of thousands of...
I wish to add my testimony to that of thousands of others, as to what Christian Science has done for me. I came under its gracious influence about two and a half years ago, through the careful study of the Bible and Science and Health. My motive was to search out and show to others what seemed to me nothing but an appeal to sentimental, over-enthusiastic, and weak minds.
After studying alone for four months, I received class instruction, and finally proved the problems that at first seemed to be not only improbable but impossible. As each doubting question was answered there remained with me answers never to be forgotten, for the Bible was now a grand and interesting book, abounding in truths that were for me.
My first physical demonstration was for an ailment of thirty-two years' standing, called by materia medica chronic catarrh of the head, and by some hay fever. This was partially overcome after two months' treatment, so much so that I stopped all further treatments, regarding its occasional recurrence as of little or no importance. My next demonstration was over rheumatism, which resulted in about the same way. In both cases the treatments should have continued longer, but I was so near freedom from these errors as not to give them a thought. My third demonstration was for gastritis, which was relieved promptly. I had previously passed through the same symptoms and conditions under materia medica, and was therefore perfectly familiar with all its phases, but under Science treatment all fears and horrors were destroyed at once, and I was out attending to business on the fifth day from the time of the attack, while the former case under material treatment required nearly six weeks for recovery. I am entirely convinced that Truth is the only power and is unchangeable, always the same positive good; and when a seeming failure in Science occurs, the cause is to be found in mortal changeableness, material doubts, and refusals to believe fully, and live every day a life of obedience to Truth and Love.
