One of the beauties of Christian Science is that it is...

One of the beauties of Christian Science is that it is fitted to all our needs, under every circumstance and condition. During seven years as principal of a kindergarten and primary school, I have had many proofs of the government of divine Principle. Every teacher who has learned of this Christ-truth, knows of instances of disobedience, evil-speaking, anger, impatience, deceit, dishonesty, and selfishness, which are overcome by the understanding of Love, as real and ever-present. A few Christian Science children have been with me, and I was asked to help them, if necessary, and we have had many proofs of Love's care.

The majority of the patrons and children had not yet learned of the Truth-healing, and I always respected their position, endeavoring to follow the Golden Rule; however, there were a few times, when the impersonal healing power of Love had to be proven. One instance was so helpful and filled me with such thankfulness and reverence, that I long to share it with others.

One day little J—was playing with the children, when I heard a loud noise as though a child had fallen on his head. Before I turned, I declared the presence and power of Love, and that "accidents are unknown to God" (Science and Health, p. 424). As I turned I saw J—lying on his face, the children standing spell-bound. Before I could reach him he staggered to his feet, but fell again, striking his head and rolling over on the floor. As I lifted him, he gasped, and stiffened out. I took him at once into a room alone with God. For a moment fear declared that the work and responsibility were too great, but I realized that divine Love filled consciousness and there was no room for its supposed opposite; that this was the reality, that there was no other power or presence then or there. While so doing many promises from the Bible and Science and Health came to me. In about three minutes he nestled down in my arms, and opened his eyes, continuing to improve; in about ten minutes he got down from my lap and wanted to go out and play, the only evidence of the struggle being a little paleness. The teachers and children were much impressed, and my own heart returned thanks to the Giver of all good, divine Principle, for the proof that "Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals" (Science and Health, p. 13).
