I have long intended to give an experience I had, of the power of Truth over error as demonstrated at the birth of my youngest child, now nearing three years of age. We were then living ten miles from the railroad and there was no practitioner nearer than fifty miles.
I wrote asking help of this practitioner a short time before my anticipated confinement, and she directed my attention to this statement in Science and Health, page 380, "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and vold by the law of God." This thought was a great help to me, and I clung to it. I had no way of letting her hear from me when I realized that the time had come. I did not let any one know that I was expecting the birth, until just time to call a physician and nurse, and they did not arrive until after the child was born. I was alone with God, and fully realized that there was no power apart from Him. The waves of mortal law threatened to roll over me, but I stood firm on the "rock of ages," and they broke harmless at my feet.
I was brought into Science nine years ago by being healed through the ministry of this same faithful practitioner, and have had other experiences quite as wonderful. The Christian Science God is indeed the God of the Bible, "a very present help" in every time of trouble.
