It is about five years this coming March since I was healed in Christian Science. At that time I had heard Christian Science spoken of, and had even got a copy of Science and Health from the public library to look over. There did not then seem to be anything in the book that particularly interested me, and I simply glanced through it. At about the time I speak of I had a lump form in my right breast, and for a month it seemed to be getting gradually larger, until at last, through fear, I concluded to consult a physician, although I experienced no pain or inconvenience whatever. After questioning me closely as to whether or not we had any hereditary diseases in our family, he examined the lump and pronounced it a cancerous growth. I shall never forget the feeling I had when the doctor told me what he believed to be a fact. He said it could be easily removed, and the best thing I could do would be to come back in a week and we would consult about having an operation performed. I told him I would never submit to that. He said I was very foolish and must reconsider, and I then went home.
A few days before this occurrence a friend had loaned me a Christian Science Journal and I had noticed the name of a dear little woman whom I knew in Salt Lake City, as a practitioner. On my return from the physician's office I immediately wrote her, telling her the circumstances and asking her to help me. Her reply came at once that she was ready to help me. To this friend I owe a debt of gratitude that I think can never be paid. She sent me a copy of Science and Health, with a request that I should begin to read it, which I immediately did. I appreciate more than even the healing, the love she gave me. She wrote me two or three times a week, and such peace and love I felt I had never experienced before. In one month the lump had entirely disappeared. This I consider a marvelous demonstration. This same friend healed my mother through absent treatment when no one considered she could possibly live. These are only two of the many demonstrations that have been made for me and mine through the power of Christian Science. I have been able to make many demonstrations for myself through the divine Principle revealed by Science and Health, for which I am sincerely grateful. This is the first testimony I have ever given, and I feel I do not wish to see the last of the year without making acknowledgment of the blessings which have come to me through Christian Science.
