Three years ago the call came for students who would volunteer to work in our city prisons. I could scarcely wait for the opportunity to rise to my feet and offer my services. To be one to carry the Christ-truth to those who "sit in darkness," was indeed a great privilege.
But it meant very great self-sacrifice, as the hour set apart for work in the prison was the morning hour, and it demanded the giving up of our own church service, which is very dear to us all.
The work required many hours of hard study on the Lesson-Sermon, so as to be able to give out this precious truth, for while we met the poor, ignorant, and darkened condition of human thought, we also met bright, intelligent, and well educated men, who were ready with all sorts of questions which Truth alone could answer.
