I have had many proofs of the one intelligence governing all.

When my mother was seventy she could not read English. I had made it a practice to read the Journals and Science and Health to her, which she enjoyed very much, and one day it dawned on my thought that she must learn to read. I said nothing but ordered a copy of Science and Health, and when it came I gave the book to her, saying, "This is yours, and you must learn to read it."

Often when we are bidden to the feast the excuses come, and she made the remark, "How can this be, when from childhood it has been so hard for me to learn?" In reply I said, "Science and Health teaches there is but one Mind, and this being true, you have access to just as much as I have, and we will begin right now, we will not stop to spell, but read." The book opened at page II5, "Scientific Translation of Immortal Mind."
