Eight years previous to my acquaintance with Christian Science...
Eight years previous to my acquaintance with Christian Science, I was almost a constant sufferer with weak lungs, liver complaint, ulceration of the stomach, and rheumatism. I also wore glasses during this period and was in bondage to granulation and paralysis of the eyelids. All material remedies ceased to give relief, and, discouraged and disheartened, life had become a burden to me. But even through the dark hours divine Love guides.
Upon meeting a friend, she advised me to try Christian Science, and told me where to find a Christian Science Church. My first attendance was at a Wednesday evening meeting, and, as the Scripture says, "they shall speak with new tongues," it appeared to be all Greek and I doubted the truth of the accounts of demonstrations given. However, I was led to attend service occasionally, and after three months truth had dawned upon my consciousness to such a degree that I had no need of my glasses.
Having experienced the healing, I secured Science and Health and continued the search. The study of the book was a hard task, but by this time I knew that God is the healer of all diseases, and He is not a respecter of persons; others had been healed and He would deliver me from my yoke of bondage. With this thought I continued to read, and in a few months Truth had gained the victory over the evidence of the physical senses. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." Indeed I was free.
