"What God has done for these...
"What God has done for these people, He can do for you!" These words, referring to those whose testimonies of healing were published in a copy of the Sentinel sent to me by a friend, were my introduction to Christian Science more than thirty-five years ago.
I was suffering from an exophthalmic goiter, which my physician was unable to cure. So I was advised to visit a specialist in London, England. I did, and after being examined I was sent to a hospital there, in which I remained for seven months. Then I was discharged, no improvement having taken place in my condition, and I was warned never to do any work and to take special pills. Not satisfied with the verdict, I continued to go from doctor to doctor.
At this time the Sentinel was given to me, and I read it over and over from cover to cover. I then decided to visit a Christian Science practitioner. She explained to me, among other things, that God is man's real physician and that I did not need to depend on pills to keep me alive. After leaving her office, I felt so uplifted that I returned home and threw away all the pills, determined to rely on God completely for healing.
