Sentinel Meeting

On September 5, 1961, a letter to the Field from The Christian Science Board of Directors announced a meeting of importance to be held in all branch churches and societies. By means of prerecording, the meetings took place throughout the world as near as possible to the time of the meeting in The Mother Church on October 19.

The opening message was delivered by Clayton Bion Craig, Chairman of The Christian Science Board of Directors. Helen Wood Bauman, Editor of The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science, presided. Addresses were delivered by Mrs. Bauman, by Ralph E. Wagers, Associate Editor of these periodicals, and by George Nay, Associate Editor of the Herald. Dr. John M. Tutt, of Kansas City, Missouri, delivered the closing address.

The meeting introduced a program devoted to emphasizing the broad purpose of Mary Baker Eddy in founding the Christian Science Sentinel. It was designed to move forward the sacred mission of the Sentinel in blessing humanity and in holding guard over the Cause of Christian Science. It pointed out the necessity for Christian Scientists to receive the continuous spiritual nourishment available in every issue of the Sentinel.
