I am very grateful for Christian Science and wish particularly to express my gratitude for the following experience which I had about three years ago. When our daughter was six weeks old, my husband, who was not a Christian Scientist, wanted the baby and me to have the usual postnatal medical examination. After our examination, the baby was reported to be in fine condition, but I was told that I had a tumor. The doctor considered that an operation would be necessary.

I decided not to have the operation but to rely on Christian Science for healing. I went to stay with my parents, and a practitioner started to help me through prayer. The next night, when I was going through a very trying time, she came to the house and stayed until the early morning hours, when I fell into a peaceful sleep.

My family and I also studied and prayed diligently to bring about the healing. A sentence from a religious article which appeared in The Christian Science Monitor and which my aunt lovingly sent to me was very helpful. It read: "No physical organ has the power to control or destroy man's true life, for God alone has power, and man lives by the divine authority of changeless, endless Life, God."
