PROVING GOD'S PRESENCE

[Of Special Interest to Children]

When Jean was in the fifth grade, the family moved to a different house in the same town. Jean was happy to find that she could still attend the same school, even though the route she took was entirely different and somewhat longer.

One day, after she had been traveling the new way for some days, she said to her mother, "I'm certainly glad that Nancy lives near here and that we can go to school together. I don't like going alone, and there's a horrid big dog that I'm scared of."

"Why, Jean," her mother replied, "it's nice to have friends and companionship, but I think you've forgotten something. You are never alone, and there is never anything to make you afraid." And she reminded Jean of a Bible verse that she had learned in the Christian Science Sunday School (II Tim. 1:7), "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
