MAN IS SUBJECT TO GOD ALONE
Mankind usually associates the thought of subjection with something evil and undesirable; whereas Christian Science teaches that man, the child of God, is never in subjection to anything but good because of the infinite goodness of the divine nature. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 481), "Man is tributary to God, Spirit, and to nothing else."
God, Mind, is the only cause, and spiritual man is the effect of this divine Principle, or creative Mind. Man inevitably exists at the standpoint of subservience to God, or Mind, since effect is always subordinate and submissive to cause. What rejoicing and freedom fill that consciousness which accepts unreservedly the fact that man is at all times in subjection to God, Spirit, alone!
In Christian Science we are taught that man is the reflection of God, unlimited good. It can be clearly seen that a reflection is entirely obedient to its original and can never manifest any characteristic which is not included in that original. This implies the true sense of subjection which each one can apply in human experience with happifying results.
