CHRISTIAN SCIENCE AND HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS

Human relationships afford the Christian Scientist great opportunities for individual spiritual growth and for bringing untold blessings to mankind. Christ Jesus gave us the correct basis for all successful human relationships when, before his betrayal, he washed his disciples' feet and then said to them (John 13:15), "I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you."

In this experience, Jesus indicated that the motive of the Christian in all of his associations should be to love and serve his fellow men as the Master did. But how can one truly love and serve his neighbor unless he gains the correct understanding of what man is and of what true service includes?

In Christian Science the individual learns that man is not a mortal but the pure son of God and that all of God's sons are included in one universal family, dwelling in divine Mind in perfect unity and constructive association. The children of God are governed by Truth, Life, and Love, and because of their divinely derived nature and their obedience to divine Mind, their relationships are always profitable and harmonious. Their purpose is to glorify God in all their ways, and in doing this, they serve and bless each other and give thanks to God for His goodness.
