I am grateful for Christian Science....
I am grateful for Christian Science. After turning to it I was healed of many ailments, including a serious condition of the heart and lungs. A prominent physician had advised us to move to the West Coast if I wished to live. In addition, I had undergone two operations for tonsils, but had never been healed. At this time I took up the study of Christian Science.
In the Bible we read (Matt. 6: 33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." I became so interested in Christian Science that I studied as much as possible and regularly attended Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I quit using medicine and from then on relied entirely on Christian Science.
I was completely healed of all my complaints within the first year of my study and did not know when they left me. Reading the life of Mary Baker Eddy, holding to statements of truth, and learning to reverse error and affirm God's allness lifted me out of all my sicknesses.
I am grateful for loving Christian Science friends who hold to truthful, healing thoughts. Once, as I was going into church with three friends, I fell and hurt my back. My friends wanted to help me; but I asked to be quiet, and they stood still.
While I was trying to collect my thoughts, a man passing in a car stopped and asked if I needed help. This awakened and aroused me. I instantly said that I could get up, and I did get up, declaring that I was all right. It was this positive effort that enabled me to declare the truth immediately as we are taught to do in Christian Science, and I knew my friends were denying the belief in accidents.
Soon I was able to go into the church and participate in a committee meeting. Not a word was said about this experience, because my friends and I were knowing that in reality nothing had happened, for God's ideas cannot be disturbed or hurt. There were no aftereffects from the fall.
I am most grateful for the spiritual transformation that has resulted in purer thoughts, a better disposition, and the ability to see good as actually existent everywhere. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I have enjoyed branch church work, having served as Second Reader for three years and also on different committees. For the privilege of class instruction and for our annual association meetings, which I have attended regularly, I am also very thankful
I am grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her discovery of this Science. Christian Science has indeed been my guide and protection. —(Mrs.) Lillian Hyde Ahrens, Little Rock, Arkansas.
