Following are a few of the many...
Following are a few of the many blessings and healings I have experienced during a number of years in Christian Science.
Up to the time I was twenty I was particularly active in school, carrying considerably more than the usual quota of studies and in addition entering into many outside activities. I also traveled much, working in road camps and iron mines, until I found that I was very seriously neglecting my study of Christian Science. Then the call came for me to awake and study more of the truth and see more of the great possibilities of reflecting God. While visiting a sister in another state, I experienced a complete nervous breakdown. Physicians called it spinal meningitis. Inside of a week after I noticed a numbness in my side, I found that I could not stand on my feet. My sister was a class-taught student of Christian Science. She gave me much encouragement when the way seemed darkest. I studied Science to the exclusion of everything else, had help from many practitioners at different times, and sometimes I improved and sometimes suffered reverses.
Finally, after three years, I engaged a different practitioner and moved to a downtown hotel in the city. I was carried in on a stretcher, and in ten days I walked out almost entirely free. My faithful sister completed arrangements for my going to the Pacific Coast. Walking day after day on the shore, I pondered many pages of Science and Health by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I clung to the truth and memorized much of what I read. Day by day my improvement was marked until the healing was complete. This refining, purifying, and elevating experience, though severe, certainly changed my outlook on life for the better.
