Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the...
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for the many blessings I have received through the study and application of Christian Science, as taught in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
Forty-three years ago I was sick in body and mind, and without hope. Three doctors, in the city in which I was then living, had given me up and advised me to go to another city tot a specialist, since nothing but an operation could help me. I went to see this specialist, and because he told me I could live only a short time without the operation, I made arrangements to return in two weeks.
On my way home, a friend who had gone with me said,"I have heard of a book called Science and Health which they say heals." After learning from her that the doctor doubted if the operation would be successful, I bought the book, and after reading the first line in the Preface (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings," I knew that I had found the truth for which I had been seeking so long—a logical, practical, provable religion. I read nearly day and night, and at the end of two weeks I was completely healed of what the doctors called stricture and adhesions of the bowels. Since that time Christian Science has never failed me when I have been obedient to its rules. Many times I have stumbled, but I have always been ready to try again, knowing that, as our Leader says of those who seek God (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 10), "If they fall they shall rise again, stronger than before the stumble."
