In a recent issue, a correspondent writing on the subject of lotteries stated, "There is not a single church or charity institution in the country that today does not draw its funds from a certain amount of gambling," and instanced raffles, American auctions, and other forms of "gambling" resorted to at bazaars, and so on.

May I mention that such methods are not employed by Christian Science churches either in South Africa or in any other country in the world. Christian Science discountenances gambling and "games of chance" of every description. The funds necessary for the functions of their churches and other institutions are voluntarily and amply furnished by Christian Scientists themselves.

Prayer, in the sense of the soul's desire for wisdom, is always answered. Desire for better and higher things is never unanswered, but be sure that you are not longing for a bauble when priceless gems are within your reach.
