I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science...
I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science—for the many healings and blessings that have come to me through the study and application of the beautiful truths taught by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
When I was six years of age, my parents were compelled to have me vaccinated to comply with school regulations. The vaccination had no effect, and the school authorities insisted on a revaccination. There was opposition and some resentment, and after the second vaccination my arm became infected. Blood poisoning developed within a few days, and it seemed that I should pass on. In the morning of the fourth day, my mother became alarmed at the symptoms. It was necessary for her to go some distance to call the practitioner, who assured her that everything would be all right, and by the time she reached home, the symptoms were beginning to disappear. As she held me in her arms, she saw the error vanish; and the healing was so complete that I was up and playing in the afternoon.
I should like to tell also of a healing I received while attending a Christian Science lecture. Some time previous to the lecture, a crate weighing about two hundred pounds fell on my foot, breaking one of the smaller bones. While there seemed to be considerable pain, I was able to keep from limping and no one knew of the condition. On the evening of the lecture I took my place as an usher. Although the sense of pain persisted, I was able to fulfill my duties. During the lecture I was impressed with the thought which the lecturer brought out about the great love that God has for all His children, a love which protects them from all harm. It was not until several days later that I even thought of my foot or noticed it; and when I did, I saw it had been completely healed.
