The Greatest Army in the World
The greatest army in the world is mobilized. Clad in spiritual armor and shielded with faith, the army of Christian Scientists, loyal to the behests of their Leader, is daily realizing and fulfilling the Biblical prophecy, "On earth peace." This warfare is not motivated by selfish interests for pride of possession or power, but is for the healing of all mankind.
Mary Baker Eddy has written (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 101): "Christian Science and the senses are at war. It is a revolutionary struggle. We already have had two in this nation; and they began and ended in a contest for the true idea, for human liberty and rights. Now cometh a third struggle; for the freedom of health, holiness, and the attainment of heaven."
Hostilities between nations need not be fearfully awaited, for loyalty to the Cause of Christian Science means that we are already mobilized for the triple victory—freedom of health, holiness, and heaven. That this struggle is revolutionary does not dismay Christian Scientists. As political revolutions have called for the substitution of a new and better polity for a selfish and aggressive form of government, so the revolutionary struggle between Christian Science and the material senses involves fundamental reconstruction of thought and a great reversal of beliefs. Political revolutions, whether good or bad, depend upon human thinking. In Christian Science, the revolution in one's thinking begins when one accepts as demonstrably true the Biblical statement, "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
