I am very grateful for the wonderful truth of Christian Science,...
I am very grateful for the wonderful truth of Christian Science, and for the many blessings we have received from it.
Before knowing of this Science I had wondered if there was really a God that cared for us and helped us in our many difficulties, sicknesses, and heartaches. A friend gave me some articles on Christian Science cut from the Monitor. I shall always remember the day I read them. It was as a light shining in my darkened consciousness. I knew then that God existed, and that He watched over us and was very near to each and all of His children.
Eight years after I knew of this truth, my husband started to go to church with me. As he began to see the truth of Christian Science, he was wonderfully healed of the smoking habit. I had been healed of many minor ailments before this. Severe stomach trouble, from which I had suffered for many years, yielded to the truth when, refusing to listen to error's suggestions to use material means, I relied on God alone. One night I had been in agony, but when I awoke the next morning I was healed. That was over thirteen years ago, and the condition has never returned. Among many other healings was that of influenza in a severe form, which was overcome in half an hour.
While my husband was lifting a heavy weight a blood vessel was broken, and the hemorrhages were severe. He was obliged, by his company, to go to the hospital. The doctors could do nothing, although they were most kind, and allowed me to stay with him day and night. A Christian Science practitioner worked for us both. The doctors said my husband could not live if he had another hemorrhage. He had many after that, and the doctors were amazed and agreed that he must be using some other healing agency, for they had not been able to help him. The practitioner stood by us faithfully. When things looked desperate, she encouraged us both lovingly. Even when my husband thought he was passing on, I declared that Life was deathless. It was a marvelous healing. Now he is at home and is an usher in a branch church.
I am humbly grateful for the many kind friends and practitioners who helped and encouraged us during this experience. It awakened us both to the necessity of being always alert to deny the errors that seem to be real. I have never been tempted to leave this wonderful truth, although the arguments of mortal mind have been very insistent at times. I know that our heavenly Father is with me, and that He has given me strength to stand firm.
I am grateful indeed to God; to Christ Jesus, who is our Way-shower; and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who was found worthy to make the truth known to us.
There are still some problems which need to be solved, but I am sure of God's loving care, and that they will yield to the truth when I have learned to trust divine Love more completely. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and happy to help in this beautiful work.

I am most happy to support my wife's testimony in regard to my healing. The railroad company with which I have been connected for a number of years insisted that I go to their hospital for a period of observation, and I went and stayed for six months. The medical staff and consulting physicians held absolutely no hope for my recovery, and one of the staff revealed to me his complete surprise at my recovery, and stated that, whatever system of healing I was using, it was doing a good job.
For her constant care and her persistence in holding to the truth about man, I owe my good wife unending gratitude; for the wonderful help of a sincere practitioner; and for sincere, kind friends, I am most grateful. I feel that I have abundant reasons for being increasingly grateful for Christian Science and for what it has done for me.
