In a published letter signed by the pastor of the Lutheran church, the following statement was made: "What right has the public school to compel the child of ... a Christian Scientist to sing a song that treats of Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God and Saviour of men?" The implication of this statement is that Christian Scientists do not believe that Jesus was "the Messiah, the Son of God and Saviour of men." May I have the privilege of offering citations from the published works of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, which indisputably refute this implication?

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," on page 482, lines 20–21, there appears this statement: "He [Jesus] was inseparable from Christ, the Messiah." Again, permit me to quote from the Tenets of Christian Science, written by Mrs. Eddy, appearing in the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and also on page 497 of the Christian Science textbook, the following Tenets:
