God's Gift of Gratitude

In her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 (p. 34) Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Godliness or Christianity is a human necessity: man cannot live without it; he has no intelligence, health, hope, nor happiness without godliness."

God does not hide Himself from His children. How much gratitude we owe Him for daily blessings; for the glory of His creation; for the manifestations of His presence, power, and goodness; for the Bible, wherein we can learn of His mighty works, and for the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy!

On page 24 of Science and Health we read, "Acquaintance with the original texts, and willingness to give up human beliefs (established by hierarchies, and instigated sometimes by the worst passions of men), open the way for Christian Science to be understood, and make the Bible the chart of life, where the buoys and healing currents of Truth are pointed out." The Psalmist said: "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!"
