Sunday School Notes and Comments

Mrs. Eddy gives us on page 261 of Science and Health a rule: "Look away from the body into Truth and Love, the Principle of all happiness, harmony, and immortality." This rule comes to our aid when someone in a class seems determined to argue around a physical problem, trying to find the solution by turning the problem over and over instead of knowing the truth clearly concerning it. Mrs. Eddy tells us in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 159), "The true thought escapes from the inward to the outward, and this is the only right activity, that whereby we reach our higher nature."

One who is daily seeing clearly for himself why it is not good to indulge false appetites, will help to strip off the disguise from self-indulgence, whether it appears as smoking, drinking, laziness, or in some other form. Such a teacher will not be found arguing that it is hard for the children to give up evil appetites, difficult for them to study the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly, or to get up on Sunday morning in time for Sunday school. Mrs. Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 199), "God is good, and goodness is more natural than evil."
