The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Prague, Czechoslovakia (Society).

Lecturer: Miss Margaret Murney Glenn; introduced by Josef Ritter, who said:—

Where is there an individual who does not wish to be happy? Who is there who does not desire lasting contentment, health, supply for all his needs, and freedom from fear of sickness, sorrow, war, and death? This is surely the desire of all mankind, and he who has gained such peace of mind is a truly happy person. Happiness is the result of cherishing certain thoughts. And the teaching of Christian Science is this: the happiness of an individual is not attainable through material means and does not depend upon material circumstances, as most people imagine, but upon our rightly directed thinking. Thus we find that happiness must indeed be eternal, and based upon reality; that it is therefore present with us now, and that it lies with us to accept this happiness, attendant upon our knowing the truth about God and man.
