Sunday News, Bulawayo,
After Mrs. Eddy's discovery of Christian Science she relied on God for healing. Although departing from material systems herself, she appreciated every noble effort of men and women intended to alleviate the sufferings of mankind. Her attitude is clearly stated on page 164 of Science and Health, where she says, "It is just to say that generally the cultured class of medical practitioners are grand men and women, therefore they are more scientific than are false claimants to Christian Science."
It is the experience of thousands who have been healed by Christian Science that instead of "inflicting unnecessary pain," the ministrations of Christian Science rapidly alleviate pain by lessening the fear of patients; and when the fear is whooly destroyed, the patient is healed.
The message of Christian Science is essentially a message for the poor and afflicted. By services, lectures, and Christian Science literature, gratuitously given, it enters state institutions in various parts of the world, reformatories, hospitals, prisons for men, women, and boys, to help and heal. The whole mission of Christian Science is to heal mentally and physically, to cure the pains and sorrows of the world, and never to ignore them.
