Under the caption "Rational Viewpoint" in your issue of January 14, a contributor to the Herald mistakenly associates the religion of Mary Baker Eddy with various systems that advocate teachings which are radically different from hers; and then by implication the item in question casts reflections on Mrs. Eddy's teachings. Therefore, I shall appreciate an opportunity to lay before your readers a few pertinent facts.

Mrs. Eddy was the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and is the revered Leader of the Christian Science movement. Thousands of respected persons around the world recognize with gratitude the service she has rendered to humanity.

Her teachings are an open book to all who reason accurately from the words of Christ Jesus, "God is a Spirit," and from another Scriptural passage, "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him.... And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good;" for these fundamental propositions lead logically to the conclusion that the true man is spiritual and therefore perfect. Sense testimony may dispute this reasoning, but intelligent persons have long since recognized the unreliability of the evidence of the corporeal senses.
