In gratitude for the healings that were published in The Christian Science Journal and the Sentinel when I first began the study of Christian Science, I am giving this written testimony.

A few years ago friends brought Christian Science to my attention, hoping to arouse me from the mesmerism of an illness termed nervous prostration, from which I had suffered for five years. My entire body was afflicted with neuritis and sciatic rheumatism and was becoming deformed. I had lived in a hospital for one year, and had many baths and massages, and was still as the woman in the Bible, "nothing bettered."

The physicians in the hospital stated that I was the most starved patient who had ever entered their institution. I had lost weight from one hundred and fifty pounds to eighty-four pounds, and I had not had a real night's sleep in five years. I was praying to an unknown God to let me pass on, as I could not think of being a burden to an only daughter. I had led such an active life that I felt I was a burden to all with whom I came in contact.
