Simple Truths

Christian Science is supreme in its simplicity. Its truths are not complicated. It holds no mystery or hidden meaning. But to understand Christian Science one's thought needs to be straightforward, sincere, receptive, open to that which is good, and closed to evil.

The strait gate and narrow way, spoken of in the seventh chapter of Matthew as leading to life, may well symbolize the simplicity and directness of our course in Christian Science. If one sees the freedom from complexity which characterizes Christian Science, he will not be led into wrong bypaths, nor follow false fads, nor make a fetish of some single statement, but he will always endeavor to comprehend and practice Christian Science in all its clarity, sanity, helpfulness, and wholeness.

On page 113 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy summarizes the fundamental propositions of divine metaphysics in four simple statements. The first three are as follows:
