"Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,'" Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 444 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and I have found this true indeed. When a young girl, I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of my mother. My first testing time came when I was about sixteen. At that time I dropped a very heavy weight on my foot and was out of school for several weeks. I was going to the doctor, but things seemed to be getting worse; blood poisoning developed and my foot was swollen to nearly twice its normal size. At this point I decided to have Christian Science help, and within two weeks was back in school.

At another time I had a very quick release from pain. I caught my right hand in a typewriter desk and nearly crushed my little finger. By silently declaring "the scientific statement of being," as given us by Mary Baker Eddy (Science and Health, p. 468), I was able to continue at my work, and after the first hour felt no discomfort whatever, although the healing was not completed for over a week.

About three years ago I suffered a severe attack of grippe and hemorrhages. A practitioner was called, and although I seemed to be passing on, immediate relief was experienced and I spent a very peaceful night. complete relief from this trouble was slow in coming, but I had a lesson to learn, and through the patient, loving help of a practitioner, I am very grateful to say that the error was completely uncovered and I received a wonderful healing.
