The Condition of Man Is Good

THE infinite God is creator, not destroyer; therefore His creation is always present, being perfectly sustained. In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (pp. 180, 181): "To reduce inflammation, dissolve a tumor, or cure organic disease, I have found divine Truth more potent than all lower remedies. And why not, since Mind, God, is the source and condition of all existence?" Mind, God, is here revealed to be not only the source or creator of man, but the actual condition of the entire spiritual universe, including man. Revolutionary as it may appear to the senses, this demonstrable fact is the only standpoint from which to reason accurately, the only premise which ultimates in the correct conclusion that man, the real spiritual man, is now perfect, even as God is now perfect.

Man is the expression of Life, God. Did not our Master, in answer to Philip's request, "Shew us the Father," declare, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father"? Was he not saying in very certain terms that spiritual man is God's expression, Mind's manifestation; and did not the great Way-shower include all in this blessed relationship when he said, "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God"?

Must not the condition of man be the same as the condition of that which he reflects, expresses, or manifests? God is not removed from that which expresses Him; rather is He the very substance of His expression, man. This oneness of God and man, as cause and effect, reveals the condition of man to be identical with the condition of God, good, and all will agree that God is without deficiency. In other words, He is perfect. Hence the eternal condition of man is Godlike or good—perfect.
