Clear Thinking

ON page 358 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says that Christian Science "presents the calm and clear verdict of Truth against error, uttered and illustrated by the prophets, by Jesus, by his apostles, as is recorded throughout the Scriptures." To be able effectually to apply the same truth is the desire of every student of Christian Science.

The ability to think clearly is our birthright. Therefore we must cherish, preserve, and guard it as a "pearl of great price." So guarded, nothing can or will be permitted to enter our mental stronghold to interfere with clear thinking, for any suggestion that would becloud it will be immediately rejected. The ability to think clearly comes from God, Mind, from whom true thoughts emanate.

When one acts wisely under trying conditions it is said that one has "presence of mind." This means that intelligence directs one's action. In Christian Science we learn that man, being made in the image and likeness of God, as the Scriptures inform us, necessarily reflects Godlike qualities. In Christian Science Mind is used as a synonym for God. So man always expresses the presence of Mind, or God, for the Scriptures also inform us that God is ever present. Mind is therefore always present, as the source of the clear thinking which is vital to our harmonious activity.
