Our Daily Missionary

To bring good tidings of spiritual emancipation to all mankind has ever been the object of true Christianity. But in order to awaken human thought to the necessity of direct individual application of the truth, as exemplified by Jesus and taught by Mrs. Eddy, there is need of much education. Jesus surely recognized this fact, for in conjunction with his sublime practice of Christian Science, healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and raising the dead, he used both parable and argument in order to explain the simple truths of scientific thinking. In like manner, Mrs. Eddy has provided means of education for the Christian Scientists of today.

First and foremost she has given us the Christian Science textbook and her other works for study and reference. For human discipline and divine guidance, she has provided the Manual of The Mother Church. Reading The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, and other periodicals, students are enabled intelligently to keep step with the advance of the entire movement. Church services call for a listening ear and a thought responsive to the Word of God; while membership and committee meetings offer an opportunity to prove, in a truly democratic way, a happy and united action in accordance with divine Principle.

The Christian Science Monitor, though among the last to be named in her plan of education, is displaying daily one of the most powerful combinations of words in the English language—Christian Science. It is also demonstrating what even a limited understanding of scientific Christianity can do in the field of gathering and distributing constructive news and honest advertising.
