Sweet Assurance

O Love , omnipotent, surrounding me,
Thy voice speaks always to me tenderly,
And stills to silence every clamorous fear
That tempts me to believe Thou art not here.

O ever-present Love, 'tis sweet to know
From Thine encircling arms I cannot go—
Thy dear encircling arms that cradle all,
And hush with healing every human call.

O Love, unchanging Love, what is there more
To ask or want or need, but to adore
Thee, and to honor and obey Thy will,
Which is to error Thy sure Peace be still?
