Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

So far as this office is aware, there were no misrepresentations of Christian Science and no attacks on Mrs. Eddy published in the public press of Manitoba during the past year; and we have not heard of any attacks from the pulpit during the same period.

Professional and business men have expressed their appreciation of the Monitor newscasts, and a number of people have become sufficiently interested in them to subscribe for our newspaper. The following incident is cited as being typical: An employee of a large insurance office, who had been listening to the radiocasting of the Monitor news over CJRC, asked a fellow worker (a student of Christian Science) where he could obtain our textbook. He purchased the book, and shortly afterwards attended a Christian Science lecture.

From time to time favorable comments regarding our daily newspaper reach this office. One editor has written, in part, as follows: "I read with interest and pleasure The Christian Science Monitor, being particularly interested in its editorial page, with sound, solid expression of opinion, remarkably broad in days such as these. ... The whole paper is perused with pleasure and interest in the family circle; the Wednesday magazine section, though, I read invariably, and find its book pages and outstanding articles—often on matters of much interest to me—a real pleasure." The managing editor of another Manitoba newspaper writes: "The Christian Science Monitor is by far the most useful and interesting exchange publication coming into our office. Its reports on international affairs have far more depth and discernment than any we get through the local dailies, while it is invaluable for an accurate picture of the American scene."
