The Way

Shadows and dusk, and fading sunset light,
The hour that speaks the passing of the day!
And with a fear of failure and of blight
I cried, God keep me in the way!

Then through the thick of doubt, despair, and gloom,
In tones divine a voice was heard to say,
No dark so dense but loving will illume—
This is the way.

Now for that charity embracing all mankind,
To Love I turn, for Love's compassion pray,
When lo! the light, the path, I see and find—
Love is the way.
