Giving God the Glory
There are two passages, one in Revelation, the other in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which in beautiful and forceful language accord all the glory to God. The one in Revelation runs, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." That in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 520) reads: "Unfathomable Mind is expressed. The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love fill all space. That is enough!" Full acknowledgment there of God as the sole creator, the All-in-all, the omnipotent and omnipresent Mind!
Christian Science glorifies God. It could not do otherwise, since it reveals His true nature. Christian Science declares God to be all-inclusive, self-existent Mind or Spirit. And because God is infinite, He is omnipresent. These are tremendous truths, in that they imply that Life, Love, Truth, good, fill all space, are present everywhere. When one in some degree realizes these truths, is it possible for him to fail to accord the glory to God? Many, through the study of Christian Science, are beginning to comprehend the infinitude of God's being, His allness, His illimitable goodness and love. And how they rejoice in the revelation they have received! How they delight to know that the vision of God's allness must inevitably blot out every suggestion that anything exists outside of Himself!
Since God is infinite, since good is everywhere, the opposite of God, good, can be present nowhere. In other words, evil does not in reality exist. But what a situation this understanding of the allness of God, good, and the unreality of evil uncovers! It shows us a world largely oblivious to the truths of being, deceived by the belief—the illusion—that evil is as real as good, grievously subject to evil's mesmerism and, consequently, failing to glorify God. It is to this world—the state of consciousness which believes that evil is as real as good—that the inspired message of Christian Science is appealing in terms which cannot possibly be misunderstood. "Christian Science brings to light Truth and its supremacy, universal harmony, the entireness of God, good, and the nothingness of evil" (Science and Health, p. 293). And in doing this Christian Science is giving God all the glory.
