I wish to express my great gratitude for the many blessings which I have experienced in a short time through Christian Science.

About three years ago, when I left this town to return to Holland, forever, as I then thought, I was broken up bodily and mentally after a long period of hard work. For many years I had been trying to find help from a great number of doctors, magnetizers, and, in the end, even native soothsayers and idol worshipers in the villages. For fifteen years I had been suffering from insomnia, a serious form of heartburn, and a complete nervous breakdown. Also, all my life I had had an impediment in my speech, which was very inconvenient and troublesome, especially for a business man.

I had asked for Christian Science treatment, but this brought me no results. I understand now that this was because my reliance was based on material means of healing. It was not until I had grown very ill and had lost almost all my money that I was led seriously to take up the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to ask for Christian Science help again. From this time, now almost three years ago, not one member of my family has wanted to see a doctor or to take drugs, and we know that God is our only Physician.
