The editorial, "Things Must Be Getting Better," in your issue of July 25, presented a constructive point when it expressed thanks for the improvement in business conditions.

It is helpful to each of us to be thankful. Gratitude for human good is affirmative, for it acknowledges the presence of good. Thankfulness is a safe and sure antidote for discouragement. The grateful heart cannot be discouraged.

Christ Jesus understood clearly that God, divine Love, is the source of all good, and he was grateful to God for His unfailing goodness. Gratitude had an important part in the Master's spiritually mental healing method, whether he was dealing with a shortage of food or with a physical disorder. Before feeding about five thousand men from five loaves and two small fishes, he gave thanks; and again, before calling Lazarus from the grave, he gave thanks.
