The blessings I have received since beginning the study...
The blessings I have received since beginning the study of Christian Science are more than I can number; in fact, its daily study and application bring constant blessings. The uplifted thought and the courage to meet the world conditions which I obtain therefrom are without comparison. My heart would indeed fail without this inexhaustible boon.
My entry into Christian Science was almost twenty years ago. At that time I was under the care of a physician. I was suffering from a bad case of indigestion and inflammation of the bladder in a very severe form, and was constantly growing worse. I had a neighbor who believed in Christian Science, though that term meant nothing to me other than that I had heard it was some sort of healing without drugs. One day when I was about to take the prescribed medicine, the thought came, What is Christian Science? I put the medicine down and never took any more of it. I went over to this neighbor and asked her what Christian Science is. She smiled sweetly and said that she would rather not try to explain it, but would be glad to give me some literature, and then if I wished a Christian Science practitioner she would direct me to one. I took the periodicals home, opened a Sentinel, and began to read it. One of the articles was based on the Scriptural passage, "Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man." The enlightenment received from that article was so clear and inspiring that I was instantaneously healed of the indigestion. The following week I went to a practitioner and also borrowed Science and Health. Two treatments were received, and I was healed of the inflammation of the bladder. Both of these healings have been permanent.
The change in my consciousness as the truth unfolded from studying Science and Health was like leaving a dark room and entering a light one. Since that time I have been through deep waters and have found Christian Science a never failing help. Many problems of supply have been beautifully and quickly solved. Life to me would not be worth living without Christian Science. My heart goes out in gratitude to our dear Leader for giving us this wonderful truth. Also, I should like to express gratitude for our organization, for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, and for the blessing of class instruction.—(Mrs.) Myrta N. Crowell, Washington, District of Columbia.
